Fish oil softgel caps formulation
1. Filling material formulation: Pure fish oil from original manufacture. Different manufacture could supply different concentration fish oil. Most ingredients is EPA, DHA, n-3PUFA. Based on fish oil production profess, the concentration is of each ingredients different. User could select their prefer formulation.
2. Gel formulation. Fish oil is normal and popular filling material. It is not oxidation by light. So pure and transparent gel ribbon is ok for fish oil caps
Whole production line for fish oil softgel caps?
1. Fish oil filling material preparation system:
If filling oil is the only ingredient for filling material. Then it no need specific preparation system. If it need to add some other ingredients, like vitamin B, Vitamin k12......
2. Gel solution preparation system:
As we all know, the softgel caps is made by two piece shell, which is made of gelatin. This system is used to cook the gelatin. Basic specification of melting system should have heating, mixing, vacuum and pressure.
Gelatin Melting process: Step 1: Turn on the gelatin melting system and also heating (60~75℃) in advance. Stgep 2: Prepare the raw material based on formulation and get those material next to melting system. Step 3 : Turn on the vacuum pump and vacuum the pure water and glycerinum into tank. Set temperature 65~70 degree, also mix. Step 4: When temperature reach 50~55degree. Then vacuum gelatin powder into the tank and continue mix. Step 5 When temperature reach 65~75degree, then use vacuum to deform gelatin solution. Step 6 after several minutes, when deform process done, then stop mixing and just hold half hours. Step 7 test the sample and when all is good. Then discharge the gel into the gel service tanks.
3 Fish oil softgel caps encapsulation process:
Now the most popular softgel encapsulation machine is rotary roller type. It mean use two dei roller and press the gelatin meanwhile inject the filling material into it. Then after encapsulation, it could get fresh caps. From our videos, it will show you how it work directly. Here is several step for setting the softgel machine.
Step 1: Turn on the softgel machine and check if everything is ok.
Step 2: Install the die roller and injection wedge. Then adjust the injection time. Make sure everything is ok.
Step 3: Connection the pipes between machine and gel tanks and material tanks.
Step 4 Turn on the heater of spreader, heater of wedge, cooling system of cast drum.
Step 5 when temperature reach to set point, then get gel solution into spreader and run the machine.
Step 6: Set the gelatin ribbon from spreader into the die roller. And adjust the ribbon thickness in right site.
Step 7: Fall the injection wedge and tun on the switch valve. Then let the material inject into the cavity of die roller.
Step 8: Get the fresh caps from the chute and conveyor
4 Dry the fish oil softgel caps
First stage drying is used to shape the fresh caps. When fresh caps just drop from die roller, it is very soft and need to put it into tumble dryer to dry it. And fresh caps will get good shape during roll in the basket. Because the surface of fresh caps have some lubrication oil. It also need to put some oil cloths into the basket and absorb the lubrication oil.
5 Final dry for the fish oil softgel caps.
Based on production facility situation, the final drying could be done by drying trays and also in-line tumble dryers. Drying trays is traditional and cheap method to dry the softgel caps. Because the drying trays is static. It need to flip the caps after several hours. So that make sure all the side of caps could dry in good way.
Another way is used with in-line tumble dryers. Double deck tumble dryers is best for the final drying of softgel caps. It can save space and work labor. No need more time on check. Drying process and drying parameter could set on HMI and it could dry the caps automatically. After hours, discharge the softgel caps into the bucket for next production process.
Another advantaged points of in-line tumble dryer is that no need polisher more and just put some oil cloth into the basket. Then it will given polishing during roll.
6. Fish oil softgel caps inspection.
After drying, the fish oil softgel caps should be inspected manually or automatically. So that make sure each caps is perfect to next step. There have three normal way for inspection. One is inspection table with naked eyes.Second one is sorting machine which is only for size selection. Last one one is automatically inspection machine. Not only size, but also color, spot, shape different, bubbles......
No1. The inspection table is with light glass and discharge chute.
It should check the all the softgel caps by worker naked eyes.
Normally need one workers for one production line and work 6 hours.
No2. softgel caps sorting machine
Sorting machine is only for softgel caps size. Softgel caps will fall from the hopper and roll from top follow the roller.
No3. Full automatic inspection machine. It not only could select the different size caps, but also could identify different color caps, also caps with spots, bubbles.
6. Labs instrument for softgel caps
It should use some instruments to check if the softgel caps is good or bad.
1) Hardness tester. It is used to check the hardness or frangibility of caps.
2) Water content tester. Use it to check if the softgel caps dry in right way.
3) Micro scope: Use micro scope to check the seam seal efficiency between two shell.
4) Softgel caps Disintegrator: Use it to check if the gel caps could dissolve in right way.
5) Drug Stable champer: Use it to store the softgel caps and check all the parameter after pointed time.
6) Viscometer: Use it to check the gel solution quality. Then change the melting process based on testing results.
